Stephen Lynn, President & CEO

Stephen Lynn is the Chief Executive Officer of Dovetail Software. As CEO, he is responsible for formulating the strategic vision, executing the business plan, and building the team for Dovetail Software. Stephen is a successful entrepreneur, with extensive experience running enterprise software companies.

Prior to becoming the CEO of Dovetail, Stephen was the President and Chief Operating Officer for bTrade where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations. Under his leadership, bTrade tripled revenue in 3 years and sold the company to Click Commerce, a public supply-chain company. Prior to bTrade, Stephen was President and CEO of AFX Technology Group International, a wireless telemetry company. He developed the overall company strategic direction and secured their initial key customer before leaving to join bTrade.

In the mid to late 90’s Stephen was the Chief Operating Officer at IEX, a telecommunications software products company. He led the company’s expansion globally, growing the company to over $50 million in revenues and was instrumental in IEX’s acquisition by Tekelec, a public telecommunications company, for $163 million.

Earlier in his career, Stephen held various senior level positions at Dalfort, Pepsi, A.H. Belo, LTV and American Can. He is also a mentor at STARTech, a Richardson, TX high-tech accelerator that works with startup companies in their early stages to develop their business plans and assist them in securing venture capital funding.

Stephen received a MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and also earned a BS in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania with majors in Finance and Accounting, graduating Magna Cum Laude.


Rusty Coleman, Vice President of Sales & Marketing

Coleman leads the Company’s Sales and Marketing initiatives. In this role, he is responsible for the development of the sales plan and staff and the product and market strategy for Dovetail’s CRM solutions.

With more than twenty-eight years of experience in the technology sector, Coleman has worked in various executive and management level positions for public and private organizations. His primary areas of responsibility have been in the development and management of sales, professional services, and customer support organizations worldwide. He has in-depth experience in the CRM technology sector both as a supplier and user of CRM software and has authored several articles on various subjects in this sector.

Prior to joining Dovetail, Coleman was on the executive management team at Semantra, a Dallas, TX based start-up in the Search and Business Intelligence technology sector, Vice President of Sales and Services for etalk Corporation, a provider of call center technology based in Irving, TX, and President and CEO of Braxtel Communications, a private call center software company founded in Dublin, Ireland. Previous to Braxtel he was senior vice-president of North American Sales Operations at Davox Corporation (now Aspect Software), a call center technology provider where Coleman led a team of 150 associates, tripling annual revenues for the US operation from $15 million to $65 million in a five year period.


Gary Sherman, CTO and VP of Products

As Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Products, Gary is responsible for guiding overall product strategy and product development, where he gets to apply his customer-centric values and beliefs in creating the next generation of CRM products.

Gary started his tenure here at Dovetail in product development, and was one of the principal architects and developers of the First Choice Foundation Library, which serves as the backbone and development platform for the current Dovetail suite of applications. From there, he served as the Director of Software Development, leading the development team on the current Dovetail suite of products, and then later serving as VP of Services and Support, where he led a team of dedicated professionals that helped make Dovetail known for its world-class support.

Prior to joining Dovetail Software in 2001, Gary served as a principal technical consultant at Clarify for over four years, focusing on all aspects of implementation and customization. He worked on the implementations of some of Clarify’s biggest customers, including IBM, Compaq, Sprint PCS, AT&T and Best Buy.

Before joining Clarify, Gary worked at The MathWorks, where he managed and maintained their Clarify implementation, including system administration, customizations, interfaces, reporting and upgrades.

He has a BSEE degree from the University of Lowell.

Nathan Shilling, Director of Services & Support

Nathan leads the company’s professional services and product support functions, focused on providing high quality solutions and world class support for our customers. Nathan has over 13 years of experience developing, delivering and supporting CRM applications for a variety of customers and industries.

Prior to joining Dovetail Software in 2008, Nathan spent 10 years at eLoyalty Corporation. Within the Consulting Services business unit of eLoyalty, Nathan spent the first few years working with various CRM applications such as Clarify, Vantive, Scopus and Quintus. As time progressed, Nathan was dedicated to numerous Clarify customer implementations as a lead developer, technical architect, business analyst and delivery manager. During his last 4 years with eLoyalty, Nathan directed the design, development, maintenance and support of a CRM implementation for the Integrated Contact Solutions business unit, representing approximately $40M revenue annually.

Prior to eLoyalty, Nathan spent 4 years at Austin-based BSG Alliance/IT as a field consultant and developer in the CRM Consulting business unit. Within this role, Nathan developed and implemented CRM applications such as Clarify and Vantive for a variety of customers.

Nathan received his Bachelor of Business Administration - Management Information Systems degree from Texas A&M University in 1995.


Chad Myers, Director of Development

Chad leads the company's software product development efforts with a focus on quality in order to maintain Dovetail's long track record of customer satisfaction. Chad started with Dovetail in 2004 as a senior architect and developer leading the Dovetail SDK and Email Agent projects. In 2008, he became the Director of Development where he is currently focused on the development of new, upcoming products in Dovetail's already extensive product suite.

Prior to joining Dovetail, Chad served as a principal consultant and partner in a high-end software architectural and development consultancy advising and developing large-scale enterprise products for organizations such as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security, among several others.

Chad has over 10 years of software development experience including 5 years in a project leadership role with a proven track record of quality software results. He is a community leader who speaks at technology conferences, user groups, code camps, as well as contributing to various development communities and open source projects.


Jeremy Miller, Chief Software Architect

Jeremy is responsible for guiding Dovetail's strategic direction as it continues to enhance its application platform. Jeremy previously worked as a systems architect building mission critical supply chain software for a Fortune 100 company and learned agile development practices as a .Net consultant at ThoughtWorks, one of the pioneers of agile development.

Jeremy began his IT career writing "Shadow IT" applications to automate his engineering documentation, then wandered into software development because it looked like more fun. Jeremy is the author of the open source StructureMap tool for Dependency Injection with .Net and the forthcoming StoryTeller tool for supercharged FIT testing in .Net. Jeremy's thoughts on just about everything software related can be found on his weblog at The Shade Tree Developer, part of the popular CodeBetter site. Jeremy is a Microsoft MVP for C#.
